Which elements are key in making our homes warm, inviting and beautifully decorated?

Undoubtedly it requires furniture, art, accessories, lighting, and color but there is another element that many do not consider important as interior designers do, and that is texture.

Texture is the secret that will take your space to the next level. It is a component that should always be considered; however, it is important to know how to implement it. When discussing textures, elements or things such as textiles, wood, patterns, finishes, movement, or those that are interesting to the touch; these elements will complement your space and give you a feeling of comfort.

Furthermore, with interior design, it is important to create and maintain a balance. Spaces lacking textured details can appear cold and stale but if overused, the spaces can feel stuffy or overwhelming. As we know, decoration is subjective considering we all have different taste, but the key is to find the perfect midpoint of texture that suits your taste.

Here are 5 tips on how to add texture to your home decoration:

1. Textiles

This is one of the easiest ways to add texture to your space and give it a warm and cozy feel. You can try using upholstery, kilim-style cushions, blankets on the sofa, linen tablecloths, and curtains.

2. Area Rugs

A good rug can bring the magic touch to any space. Whether due to color or texture, rugs are elements that complement and give cohesion and dynamism. In addition, they give that essential cozy touch to any area of your home. There are many models of rugs, varied in color, size and texture, the important thing is to find the one that works for you.

3. Wood Finishes

Wood finishes are amongst the favorite for interior designers due to the added value they provide. Wood furniture, closets, walls and shelving, can become a primary decorative and textured element that can pleasantly change the mood and feel of any room. 4. Furniture

A piece of furniture that stands out; be it a sofa, table, or chair, will give a touch of warmth. Another good way is to incorporate velvet to pillows, cushions or even a full sofa.

5. Wallpaper – wall textures

This long-established decorative tradition has stayed for a reason: It evokes a sense of space, warmth, and artistic conveyance like no other. The sense of being immersed in a work of art is a pleasure that many enjoy. Same as with walls with varying textures throughout a room from either a backsplash, a lime-wash paint, a brick finish; they all become part of a warm invitation to enjoy your space. .

Hope these ideas inspire you to create a warm space at home.
